Thanks to everyone who joined us for to celebrate the students at the marching band banquet last night and congratulations to all on a great season! We're on to winter!
The winter guard had a great performance at the Winter Guard Evaluation Show in Salem, MA. Their show is titled, "Toxic" and uses the song of the same name by Britney Spears. Winter percussion is starting off strong with a group of 16 students. The group is performing a concert percussion show this year entitled, "Serengeti" by Chris Crockarell. Both groups will compete later this month at Dartmouth High School on February 23rd, then on March 17th at Somerset Berkley, March 24th at Shepherd Hill and each group will compete at their own finals competitions. Good luck!

We are excited to announce that the Plymouth High Schools Marching Band Show for the 2018-2019 school year is entitled, "Uprising." The show is composed/arranged by Matt Hightower with percussion by Josh Powell. "Uprising" is a timely tale of rebellion against an overbearing authority. The music for the show contrasts the defiant music of English hard rockers Muse with a timeless melody by Stephen Foster. You can hear the music and check out the show concept at the following link: johnfanninmusic.com/product/uprising/ Be sure to check out our show at a football game or at the competition we are hosting in the fall! Congratulations to all of the performers at All-Town. This year, it was exciting to see all band and orchestra students in Plymouth have an opportunity to perform at each of these concerts. Good things are happening in the instrumental music department and that was evident during each of these concerts! Thank you to the students, teachers, conductors and audience members for making this such a great set of concerts! Members of the Plymouth High Schools Marching Band as well as members of both North and South concert bands left Wednesday for their trip to Orlando, Florida. During this trip the band will be marching in the Florida Citrus Parade on Saturday, December 30th and marching in Disney's Magic Kingdom "Disney Festival of Fantasy" pre-parade on Sunday, December 31st before ringing in the New Year at the park!
If you are interested in watching the band in the Citrus Parade, there is a livestream of the parade on Saturday, December 30th starting at 11:30am. You can check out the livestream at either of the following links! floridacitrussports.com/event/florida-citrus-parade/ https://www.superholiday.com/Florida-Citrus-Parade-Live-Stream/ The Plymouth High Schools Marching Band had the opportunity to play the National Anthem before the Boston Red Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays game on Tuesday, September 26th at Fenway Park in Boston, MA. This was an awesome experience for the students and for Mrs. Holmes and Mrs. Grueb as well! Thanks to all of the parents, friends and school staff that came to support us for this great opportunity. Check out some photos from the event below. Great job this past Saturday at the Humarock Horribles Parade in Scituate! The fun parade officially kicks off our marching band season and is a great way to get started. Thank you to all the students who committed time on their Labor Day weekend to participate!
Going forward, we have a lot on the calendar. This Friday, September 8th is our first football game for the season. It is at North this week and call time is at 5:30pm. For those of you who don't have marching shoes yet, please wear the darkest pair of sneakers you own (black is preferable if you have a pair of black sneakers). Front ensemble students who do not have marching shoes can wear sneakers or black dress shoes. Please be sure to check the marching band calendar regularly (it can be found under the Marching Band tab). We will be updating it throughout the season. Please try to check it at least once a week, if not more often. As of today, our football games and competitions are all listed in the calendar. Please note that times for these may change slightly. We will get more accurate times as each event approaches. Also, please be sure to check the location for the football games. They can change weekly! See you all on Thursday for our regular 5:30-8:00 rehearsal. Let's keep this good momentum going into our first football game! Great work to all the students and staff during band camp. We had a very successful week and that was thanks to all of your hard work. This season is shaping up to be a great one and should be "Wicked" fun!
THANK YOU- Thanks to all parents who helped with dinners last week or who donated food or other items! Also thanks to the parents who did the uniform fittings last week. We have only a couple of students left to fit- woohoo! And thanks to the parents who helped with some of the equipment repair, serving meals, or with the cookout! We appreciate your help making this program a success! If you didn't get a chance to help, but would like to- we will need chaperones for field trips, more helping with some prop building and there are often sewing or other projects that come up- please let us know how you'd like to help. All volunteers need to have a current CORI with the school department. |
